What Google is looking for now is content. Original content. And I believe now that content marketing is 10 times more important than it was when I started for getting Google rankings. I was one of the first to push for content as a way to get traffic consistently from Google.

The principles are the same, but the focus is more along the lines of what most people call content marketing. I believe it will become the backbone of SEO, just like for years, article marketing was such a critical piece of SEO (although, technically, it was the link building that was the backbone of manipulating search rankings).
